Information for event organisers
Everything you need to know if you’re booking a space at the King’s Centre
-
There are discounts available on room hire and equipment for charities and non-profits*. When you enquire, please ensure that our team has ready-access to your charity number or website detailing that you are a non-profit organisation.
*If you come through an agency service that is expecting a commission, we are unable to offer these discounts.
-
We invoice either the booker or finance contact (if we are provided with one) after the event has taken place. Usually, this will be the next working day.
-
If you wish to use an alternative method of payment to bank transfer, please let our team know when you are sent the invoice and a payment link will be sent to you. Please note that there is a 2.5% additional charge for card payments. We are unable to take in-person card payments.
-
Of course! Just email our team to request a copy of our most up-to-date risk assessment document.
-
We have first aid kits in several locations around the building, but all organisers must provide their own first aider if they feel one is required for the safety of their event. The King’s Centre cannot provide a first aider for events.
-
There are signs around the building indicating the direction in which you should go in the event of a fire. As soon as the alarm sounds, please proceed to the nearest exit, calmly leave the building and congregate on King Street being careful not to block the road so that any emergency vehicles can gain access to the King’s Centre and (potentially) any other buildings. The appointed lead for your booking must take note if there is anyone from the booking missing and let one of our fire marshals know.
If you have a wheelchair user, there are different methods of evacuation depending on where in the building they are: in the Auditorium there are two ramps – one to the side of the room, one going through the Community Lounge – that can be used depending on the location of the fire. If you have booked a room on our other floors, the delegate must proceed to the nearest stairwell (these are more fireproof than other parts of the building) and await rescue. The appointed lead for your booking must let the King’s Centre staff know where the delegate is so that a rescue can be carried out using the evacuation chairs in the stairwells.
Under no circumstances may delegates re-enter the building unless told by a fire marshal that it is safe to do so.
-
The building is open 8.30am - 5.30pm, but unless a later time has been agreed at the point of booking, bookings must be completed and all delegates left the building no later than 5.30pm.
-
The Coffee Shop is open Monday – Friday from 9am serving drinks and snacks. The Coffee Shop closes for the day at 2pm.
We can sometimes open the Coffee Shop outside of these hours, but this must be arranged in advance; please speak to a member of our team to confirm whether or not this will be possible.
-
Unfortunately we have no onsite parking, the nearest car parks are detailed on our How to Find Us page.
If you have a delegate with a blue badge, they can park on King Street outside the building; this is on a first-come, first-served basis.
-
If you have a delegate with a blue badge, you can park on King Street outside the building; this is on a first-come, first-served basis. Alternatively, someone can drop them off at our front doors and they can park the vehicle somewhere else.
From street to King’s Coffee & Reception, there is step-free access. Our ground floor, first floor, and second floor are all accessible via ramp or lift. We also have accessible toilets on the ground and first floor.
-
We have toilets on all floors except our second floor, but there are toilets very close by to the stairwell on the first floor. The location of all our toilets can be seen on our map.
We have gender-segregated toilets on our first, ground, and lower ground floors. The toilets by our coffee shop, and all accessible toilets, are gender-neutral with wash basins in the cubicle.
There are baby-changing facilities on our ground and lower ground floors.
